Disposable and sustainable at the same time - is that possible?
Yes, NATUREStar has the first organic disposable clothing on the market. It is food-safe, compostable and made from 100% renewable raw materials.
Organic aprons and gloves
Until now, plastic was the only material used for clothing in food businesses for reasons of hygiene.
Now Franz Mensch is setting new standards and has developed an environmentally friendly alternative under the NATUREStar brand: Disposable aprons and gloves made from compostable bioplastic (PLA).
NATUREStar clothing is suitable for direct contact with food and is ideal for anyone who needs disposable clothing due to hygiene regulations but still values sustainability.
How vegetables become organic gloves
The organic clothing is made from what is known as PLA (polylactide). PLA is an organic plastic that is obtained solely from plants. The starting material is starch from maize plants. Only industrial maize is used for NATUREStar's disposable clothing and no food plants. Fermentation produces lactic acids, which are first processed into granules and later into film. This film is used to produce disposable aprons and gloves.
As only renewable raw materials are used, the clothing is 100% compostable and sustainable. Another plus: up to 70% less CO2 is emitted during production than with conventional plastic. NATUREStar is a brand of Franz Mensch GmbH and stands for disposable products made from 100% renewable raw materials.
