These organic materials for disposable bowls are really environmentally friendly
- Sugar cane - number 1 among organic materials
Sugar cane bowls are made from the fibres of sugar cane, known as bagasse, and are a popular alternative to conventional disposable tableware. Bagasse is left over as a waste product from industrial sugar production. This means that fresh fibres are not needed for the sugar cane dishes. A residual material is used that is produced anyway and would otherwise have to be disposed of. Moreover, sugar cane is a fast-growing raw material that is available in large quantities. Sugar cane husks consist purely of vegetable fibres and are therefore completely compostable. In addition, sugar cane bowls are very stable, liquid-tight and heat-resistant. They are suitable for heating in the microwave and oven or for freezing and cooling in the refrigerator.
- Wood - versatile classic
Wooden organic bowls, wooden cups or wooden trays look very beautiful thanks to their natural grain. Disposable wooden bowls are compostable and sustainable. They are made purely from plant-based raw materials - renewable and environmentally friendly. Many wooden products at Franz Mensch bear the FSC® label for responsible forestry. Wood is very versatile and also serves as a basis for cellulose and paper products.
- Kraft paper - modern organic look
Organic bowls, dishes and cups made of kraft paper are among the most popular organic disposable products. The natural brown colour and the stability of the paper have convinced our customers for many years. Kraft paper trays are recyclable and sustainably produced.
- Palm leaf - all natural
Similar to sugar cane, the palm leaves do not have to be specially produced. The organic shells are made from the leaves of the betel nut palm, which sheds its leaves naturally. This means that the leaves only have to be collected, dried and pressed into moulds. In the process, each organic bowl made of palm leaf is a real one-of-a-kind with an individual, beautiful grain. Palm leaf bowls are heat-resistant, wet-stable and very robust. Ideal for all kinds of food and takeaway dishes
- PLA – transparent, glatt und fast wie PE
PLA is a bio-plastic that mimics PE in its properties. But unlike PE, PLA is made from plant materials. Organic trays made of PLA are produced from corn starch and are fully compostable when recycled via industrial composting. Big advantage of PLA trays: they are transparent and the contents are visible at all times. This is particularly convincing on the sales shelf and at the POS.
6 facts you should know about organic bowls
1. Compostable according to EN 13432: Disposable trays can be turned into valuable humus in industrial composting plants. This closes the material cycle and avoids waste.
2. Hygienic: Organic trays are developed for single use and therefore meet the highest hygiene standards. Especially when it comes to food, all hygiene aspects must be taken into account. With organic disposable bowls, every guest receives a fresh bowl without residues from previous uses. In addition, disposable bowls save you the hassle of washing up and are a practical choice for on the go or at events. The special thing about this natural product is that each bowl and plate has a unique appearance, because the gentle processing into tableware preserves the natural grain of the individual palm leaves.
3. Robust: Organic bowls are sustainable and at the same time resistant to wetness, fat and hot or very cold temperatures. You can use the compostable disposable bowls just like the old-fashioned plastic ones. Organic bowls are even approved for microwaves, ovens or freezers.
4. Versatility: Organic disposable bowls are available in different sizes and shapes and are suitable for a variety of uses, from salads to soups.
5. Natural and compatible: Organic trays are free from artificial chemical substances that may be present in conventional plastic containers, ensuring that your food remains free from harmful chemicals.
6. Resource-efficient: Because they come from sustainable sources, disposable bowls help prevent deforestation and overuse of natural resources. Disposable bowls made from renewable resources such as sugar cane or corn starch reduce dependence on fossil fuels and thus reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
By consciously using organic bowls and dishes, we can all do our part to protect our planet and maintain a clean, healthy environment for generations to come.
