Patient transport
Here you will find important accessories for safe and hygienic patient transport: Disposable stretcher sheets and casualty covers for use in ambulances, rescue services and operating theatres.
Hygienic disposable products for patient transports
When patients are transported in an ambulance or rescue vehicle or taken to examinations within the hospital, hygiene and infection control is a very important issue. That is why there are special hygiene measures for patient transport. They ensure the safety of both the patient and the staff. In addition to the appropriate protective clothing and hand hygiene (disposable gloves!), hygienic disposable products such as sheets or blankets are also included. Franz Mensch is a hygiene specialist and offers you a range of products that ideally complement your disposables for patient transport in hospitals, ambulances and nursing homes:
- Patient blankets: warm patients during examinations or transports and prevent the body from cooling down, available in different materials
- Disposable carry sheet: protection for stretchers, couches or beds, absorb moisture, different types available.
- Accident cover: black transport cover with zipper, very strong PP with PE coating, liquid-tight
When it comes to patient transports, it is important to distinguish between two situations in general:
- planned patient transports within the clinic, e.g. when patients have to go for an examination and have to be moved from one part of the building to another. The transport can take place in a wheelchair or in a patient bed. During planned transports, hygiene measures can be carried out accurately and at rest.
- acute patient transports are transports under stress, i.e. in emergency situations and accidents. The patient is transported on a stretcher or in an ambulance. In acute transports, nothing is usually known about the patient's pre-existing conditions, so all standard hygiene rules must be followed.
Risk categories for patient transports
In emergency situations in particular, there is a high risk of infection - especially for the personnel who are in contact with the patient. Depending on the risk of infection, certain hygiene measures must be taken. To better protect staff and patients, patient transports are divided into risk categories. The scale ranges from category A, no risk of infection, to category D, very high risk of infection. Category D includes, for example, patients with very dangerous pathogens such as AIDS, Ebola or smallpox.
Hygienic disposables for reliable protection
Disposable products such as gloves, gowns, protective covers or patient blankets provide reliable protection against infections. They are among the standard protective measures that must always be observed - regardless of whether or not pre-existing conditions or infections are known. In addition, disposable products are easy to dispose of and are immediately at hand. Especially in stressful situations, disposables are fast, reliable and particularly practical helpers, e.g. when the rescue vehicle has to be prepared for the next mission in a short time or in accident situations when every second counts.
