The palm leaf tableware from NatureStar is made from pressed leaves of the betel nut palm. This grows in natural forests in Southeast Asia and loses its palm leaves, which can be up to 2 metres long, over the course of the year. These are simply collected, dried and processed. Palm leaves are completely biodegradable and do not require any coating or chemical additions. Each product is unique thanks to its individual grain. Bio disposable tableware from palm leaf

The leaves of the betel nut palm are a by-product because they fall off naturally and no plantations need to be created. The palms lose about 4 to 7 leaves a year during their growth, which would normally rot on the ground. Much too bad, we think, when you can make beautiful tableware out of these leaves.

How to make palm leaf plates

The fallen palm leaves are collected and sorted according to different quality grades. Only high-quality leaves are used for further processing. All other leaves are sorted out and used as organic fertiliser. The beautiful palm leaves are washed, bundled, dried and pressed into the desired shape using hydraulic presses and heat. This is how plates, bowls and dishes are made from palm leaf.
