Organic hamburger boxes with hinged lid | bagasse
Environmentally friendly organic hamburger boxes from Naturestar The disposable food boxes are made purely from sugar cane fibres and are therefore particularly sustainable. They are free of plastic, come without plastic coating and can be fully composted. The organic hamburger boxes from NatureStar are a high-quality packaging for to-go food of all kinds or for leftovers from a visit to a restaurant. The large size is ideal for burgers or sandwiches. Sugar cane dishes are sturdy, waterproof, grease-resistant and can even withstand freezing and heating. The great sustainability advantage of lunch boxes made of sugar cane is that a residual material is used for the production, which is produced in industrial sugar production anyway. This is the so-called bagasse. Bagasse is solid fibre from the sugar cane that is left over as a waste product and is normally incinerated. Far too bad! Together with water and binding agents, the fibres are turned into a pulp that is pressed into any shape and then dried. This is how the bagasse is made into beautifully shaped plates, hamburger boxes, bowls or cups. Not a single tree has to be felled for this organic tableware. Only existing materials are used and resources are noticeably conserved. The hamburger boxes made of sugar cane are available in two colours: bright white or natural brown. If the bagasse is bleached in an additional step, the end product is white; if it is used in its natural colour without bleaching, the appearance is natural brown. The burger boxes to go made from sugar cane are ideal for anyone who wants to make their takeaway business more sustainable. Show your guests that environmental protection is important to you and consciously use compostable organic packaging made from plant-based raw materials. Features of the hamburger boxes at a glance: rectangular, undivided pure natural product made from renewable raw materials completely compostable sugar cane fibres extra stable and dense food box food-safe oil and fat resistant, waterproof suitable for microwave and oven heat resistant up to 100 °C suitable for refrigerator and freezer stackable, very space-saving Bulk pack with 10 x 50 pieces What is bagasse and how is it used to make organic disposable tableware? Bagasse is sugar cane fibre left over from sugar production. Sugar cane belongs to the sweet grass family and, like bamboo, is a very fast-growing plant. What takes a tree decades to grow, sweet grasses only need a few months. Sugar cane grows up to 6 metres within a year. This characteristic makes sugar cane a very economical and comparatively cheap organic raw material. Sugar cane is the world's most important raw material for the production of sugar. The sugar cane is rolled and pressed to extract the sugar juice. The fibrous part, the bagasse, remains as a by-product. From 100 tonnes of sugar cane plants, about 10 tonnes of sugar and 34 tonnes of bagasse are obtained. The bagasse is therefore produced in large quantities and would normally be incinerated as waste. For organic disposable tableware, however, it is precisely these solid fibres that are used. In this way, waste is avoided and resources are conserved. The bagasse fibres are ground to a homogeneous pulp with the addition of water and natural binding agents, processed and pressed into different shapes. The result is plates, lunch boxes, hamburger boxes or cups that are made purely from plant parts and are thus completely compostable. If the bagasse is bleached, the end product is bright white; if it is not bleached, the appearance is natural brown. Advantages of organic packaging made from sugar cane light and yet very stable, even suitable for heavy foods water-resistant, oil- and grease-resistant, suitable for the microwave and refrigerator heat-resistant up to 100 °C compostable according to EN 13432 space-saving, as stackable Compostable and biodegradable: the same thing, right? Both terms are often used synonymously. Strictly speaking, however, there is a difference. The term "biodegradable" is quite general. After all, almost any material can be degraded at some point. Biodegradable materials are broken down over time by bacteria and other organisms. However, the conditions under which this degradation takes place are not defined. Compostable products are quite different. They have to meet strict guidelines and are therefore one step ahead of "normal" biodegradable products in terms of environmental protection. Compostable products always consist of organic materials whose natural decomposition produces compost. For organic waste to turn into compost, the environmental conditions must be right. These include sufficient water and oxygen as well as the right temperature. The European standard EN 13432 and the American standard ASTM D6400 specify exactly how long it takes for the raw materials to decompose completely. For example, 90 % of the material must have decomposed after 6 months. Very important: Compostable materials do not leave behind any questionable residues and are therefore particularly environmentally friendly.
