Bump caps are part of the personal protective equipment (PPE) and protect you if you hit your head at work. Bump caps are used wherever helmets are not compulsory by law, but head injuries can still occur in everyday working life. This is the case, for example, with protruding equipment or machines. With a bump cap, you are protected from impact injuries such as lacerations or abrasions.

A bump cap must not be confused with a safety helmet according to EN 397. A hard hat protects against injuries caused by falling or moving objects. In contrast, a bump cap according to EN 812 protects you if you hit your head on hard objects. A bump cap is lighter and more comfortable than a helmet.
