Bump caps
It makes sense to wear a bump cap especially in production halls or when working on machines. This is precisely where there are areas where helmets are not compulsory by law, but where head injuries nevertheless occur. Bump caps are PPE and meet the requirements of the EN 812 standard.

Bump caps - head protection according to EN 812
Bump caps are part of the personal protective equipment (PPE) and protect you if you hit your head at work. Bump caps are used wherever helmets are not compulsory by law, but head injuries can still occur in everyday working life. This is the case, for example, with protruding equipment or machines. With a bump cap, you are protected from impact injuries such as lacerations or abrasions.
A bump cap must not be confused with a safety helmet according to EN 397. A hard hat protects against injuries caused by falling or moving objects. In contrast, a bump cap according to EN 812 protects you if you hit your head on hard objects. A bump cap is lighter and more comfortable than a helmet. The modern baseball look also looks particularly sporty and is very popular with employees.
The most common applications of bump caps:
- in food productions
- in large slaughterhouses
- in stock
- on assembly lines
- among craftsmen, especially in the interior finishing of houses
- in agriculture

This is what the EN 812 standard says
EN 812 specifies the requirements that a bump cap must meet. These include important properties such as the impact absorption capacity of the cap as well as penetration resistance and fit or tight fit. In addition to these basic requirements, there are also bump caps for special applications. These caps are characterized, for example, by their resistance to cold down to -30°C or their flame resistance. There are also special bump caps that protect against short-term contact with AC voltages of up to 440 V.
