Standards information: Cut protection according to EN 388
EN 388 determines whether a glove offers sufficient protection against injuries. This standard specifies various tests, including for cut and abrasion resistance. Due to the development of new materials and high-performance fibers, the cut protection test had to be adapted a few years ago. In addition to the conventional Coupe test, which is mainly used for gloves made of high-tech fibers, there is now an additional test: the TDM cut resistance test in accordance with EN ISO 13997, or ISO test for short. This is particularly relevant for cut-resistant gloves that contain materials such as steel or glass fibers. As part of the Coupe test, a rotating circular blade is passed over the glove to be tested several times. The resulting cut protection level ranges from level 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest rating. The ISO test, on the other hand, uses a sharp blade that is applied to the glove once with pressure to determine the amount of force required to cut through the glove. The result is classified in levels A to F, with F being the best possible protection.

Work safely: PPE for butchers
Protect yourself with chain and cut protection gloves
Occupational safety is a high priority in meat-processing companies. Accidents involving knives are among the most common injuries. Wearing stab- and cut-resistant gloves is mandatory! A robust yet comfortable glove to protect against cuts is the "stab-resistant glove". This consists of a mesh of stainless steel rings with a diameter of 4 mm. It can be precisely adjusted using the tried-and-tested push-button technology.
At the same time, the glove can be removed quickly. The stab protection glove can be easily switched from "left" to "right" without tools. It is hygienic, lightweight and comfortable to wear. It is ideally suited for use in food production. Chain gloves can be secured with PU glove tighteners. These are suitable for a better fit of the stab-resistant gloves and serve to compensate for any differences in size. For optimum PPE, we recommend wearing stab-resistant chain aprons in addition to the protective gloves.

Cut protection gloves for a demanding working environment
The cut protection gloves are suitable for different applications. For example, they can be used to protect the knife-wielding hand from possible cuts. They are made from various synthetic high-performance fibers with specific knit densities and are available in different colors and designs. You can choose between gloves with or without steel fibers and gloves with extremely high-performance coatings. Cut-resistant gloves made from special fibers are ideal. They protect against cuts and offer a secure grip as well as very good tactile sensitivity and dexterity. We recommend wearing arm cut protection as a supplement to cut-resistant gloves. Franz Mensch cut protection gloves and arm cut protection are suitable for use in the food industry and are machine washable at high temperatures.
