Everything about paper towels, folded towels and their advantages

Paper towels are disposable towels made from highly absorbent paper/cellulose. They are often found in public washrooms, toilets or changing rooms used by many visitors. The great advantage of paper towels is that they are extremely hygienic, as every guest can use a fresh towel.

Folded towels are a special type of paper towels, which thanks to their folding are used especially in high traffic areas. A suitable wall holder for paper towels stores them in a space-saving way and protects them from dust. This way, the papers are immediately at hand and ready for use. Folded paper towels absorb liquids quickly and leave hands clean and dry. They are particularly suitable for public restrooms because they can be removed individually to prevent cross-contamination. This is because, unlike conventional towels, paper towels are only used by one person and are disposed of directly after use. This significantly reduces the spread of germs.

Paper towels are made of multi-ply cellulose, recycled paper or a mixture of both. They are very absorbent and able to absorb liquids quickly and dry hands very well.

Buy your folded paper towels here in the store and choose from a wide range. At Franz Mensch you will also find all the matching wall holders for folded towels for a well thought-out and economical hand drying system.

Paper towels which fold?

Folded towels, also known as folded paper towels, are usually placed in dispensers. Here, the fold determines how the towel is dispensed from the dispenser. The different types of folds make for a very economical system that reliably controls the number of paper towels dispensed at one time and is extremely convenient for users. Here are some of the most common types of folds for folded towels:

This is how hygiene papers are produced:

Sanitary papers are made from pulp/cellulose. This is obtained either from recycled paper or from fresh wood fibers. The pulp is cleaned, bleached and then formed into thin sheets which are dried and wound onto rolls.

  • Z-fold paper towels are one of the most common types of paper towels. Here, the towel is folded in half and the sides are folded alternately inward to form a Z or N pattern. The advantage of this type of fold is mainly in the single sheet removal, where the next paper towel is automatically followed. This type of fold is very space-saving and efficient. In addition, the contact area with the other paper towels is minimized. This is particularly practical in public areas where hygiene is of great importance.
  • Paper towels C-fold: Here, the outer sides of the towel are folded in half so that they take the shape of a "C". They are often offered stacked in a dispenser. Advantage of folded towels C-fold is that they have a large sheet size and can be used in both closed and unfolded format.
  • Paper towels C-fold: In contrast to the zigzag fold, in the C-fold the towels are on top of each other. The towels are folded so that they have the shape of a "C", making them easy to pull out of the dispenser. While this fold does not allow for individual removal, it is popular for its stability and ease of refilling.
  • Folded towels with V-fold: The V-fold, sometimes called M-fold, allows the towels to be removed individually. However, the towels are folded so that they have the shape of a "V" or "M". This type of fold provides a high capacity in the dispenser and is also very space-saving.
  • Papers Interfold (Interleaved): With this type of fold, the towels are folded so that they interlock. This allows for smooth and single output and prevents multiple towels from being removed at the same time.

In summary, folded towels with their different fold types offer an efficient, hygienic and environmentally friendly solution for hand drying in public facilities.

Folded towels are popular not only for reasons of hygiene and ease of use, but also because they are more environmentally friendly than other options. Many folding towels are made from recycled paper or sustainably managed sources.

However, regardless of the type of fold you choose, you should always pay attention to the quality of the paper towel, as it is crucial for its absorbency and durability.

How to dispose paper towels?

Paper towels belong in the residual waste and not in the waste paper. They are often contaminated with dirt, which makes recycling difficult. In addition, paper towels absorb water quickly and decompose. This usually makes them unsuitable for the recycling process. Therefore, always throw paper towels in the residual waste. If they are contaminated with hazardous materials (such as paint or chemicals), they should be disposed of according to local hazardous waste regulations. Please note that this is general advice and specific recycling and waste disposal regulations may vary in your area.
