No! Both terms are often lumped together, but strictly speaking there is a difference. The term "biodegradable" in general, after all, almost any material can be degraded at some point. Biodegradable materials are decomposed over time by bacteria and other organisms. However, the conditions under which this extraction takes place are not defined.

Completely different with compostable products. They must meet strict guidelines and are therefore one step ahead of the "normal" biodegradable products in terms of environmental protection.
Compostable products always consist of organic materials, the natural decomposition of which produces proper compost. In order for organic waste to become compost, the environmental conditions must be right. This includes sufficient water and oxygen as well as the right temperature. The European standard EN 13432 as well as the American standard ASTM D6400 specify exactly in which time frame a complete decomposition of the raw materials must have taken place. For example, 90% of the material must be degraded after 6 months. Very important: compostable materials do not leave any hazardous residues and are therefore particularly environmentally friendly.
Terry cloth is a soft, very pleasant textile fabric made of cotton. What makes it special: Terrycloth consists of many loops that make the fabric voluminous and extremely absorbent. Terry cloth is available in different qualities. The longer the loops, the more liquid the fabric can absorb. Due to its excellent absorbency, terry cloth is ideal for home textiles such as towels or washcloths. Terrycloth is also particularly heat-insulating, making it a great material for baking gloves. A nice side effect: terrycloth does not need to be ironed.
