The biggest problem with conventional paper cups is the plastic coating on their inside. This coating makes the cups leak-proof and food-safe. Unfortunately, however, it prevents the paper cups from being disposed of. Coffee cups with a plant-based PLA coating may require a different disposal route.
With a total annual consumption of 2.8 billion* cups in Germany alone, a better solution is needed. Products made from renewable raw materials are good and absolutely the right way to go. But action must not stop with the last sip of coffee. We have to think the process through further and enable disposal. With the coffee cups Only Paper, this has been achieved for the first time. The biggest challenge with conventional paper cups is the plastic lining on the inside. It ensures that the cups are leak-proof and food-safe. At the same time, however, it makes recycling more difficult. Coffee cups with a plant-based PLA lining face similar disposal challenges, as suitable composting facilities are often not available.
With an annual consumption of around 2.8 billion cups* in Germany alone, innovative solutions are needed. Products made from renewable raw materials are an important step. At the same time, it is essential to return valuable materials to the recycling loop after use.

The Only Paper products: game changer for the disposal of single-use tableware
The biggest problem with conventional disposable paper tableware is the plastic coating. While it makes the paper water-resistant and leak-proof, it unfortunately also prevents straws, cups, and the like from being disposed of. With plastic coating, they belong in residual waste and not in waste paper.
